42nd Street When revered Broadway director Julian Marsh (Warner Baxter) falls on hard times with both his health and his finances, he helms an ambitious musical as a final production before his retirement. His lead actress, Dorothy Brock (Bebe Daniels), is torn between two loves--the show's wealthy backer, Abner Dillon (Guy Kibbee), and the earnest but penniless actor Pat Denning (George Brent) --while aspiring young performer Peggy Sawyer (Ruby Keeler) waits in the wings, hoping for her big break.

The Maltese Falcon In this noir classic, detective Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart) gets more than he bargained for when he takes a case brought to him by a beautiful but secretive woman (Mary Astor). Sam, entangled in a dangerous web of crime and intrigue, soon realizes he must find the one thing they all seem to want: the bejeweled Maltese falcon.

But when the appearance of Henry's new wax sculptures occurs at the same time that a number of corpses vanish from the city morgue, art student Sue Allen (Phyllis Kirk) begins suspecting wrongdoing.

Pride and Prejudice In the early 19th century in the English village of Meryton, the arrival of wealthy bachelors, most notably Mr. Darcy (Laurence Olivier), stirs up the families with single daughters. Among those is the Bennet family, with five eligible daughters, including the spirited Elizabeth (Greer Garson) and her pretty older sister, Jane (Maureen O'Sullivan). As Mrs. Bennet (Mary Boland) aggressively tries to pair off her girls, Elizabeth crosses swords with the imperious Darcy.

Somewhere in Time In 1972, playwright Richard Collier (Christopher Reeve) becomes fascinated by a photo of Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour), a turn-of-the-century stage actress, while staying at the Grand Hotel in Mackinac Island, Michigan. As Richard's obsession grows, he learns from a friend that time travel may actually be possible through hypnosis. Richard travels in time to meet Elise, and the two appear destined to be together. However, Elise's jealous manager (Christopher Plummer) attempts to keep them apart.

Yuri, however, ends up marrying his cousin, Tonya (Geraldine Chaplin). But when he and Lara meet again years later, the spark of love reignites.

When young Armand (Robert Taylor) falls in love with Marguerite, his sincere adoration causes her to question her comfortable life, and, despite the protests of Armand's scandal-wary father (Lionel Barrymore), she considers leaving the Baron for him.

Bullets or Ballots Upon the murder of an anti-crime advocate, the police turn to former investigating detective Johnny Blake (Edward G. Robinson) for help. Convinced that racketeer Al Kruger (Barton MacLane) arranged the murder, Johnny goes undercover in order to infiltrate Kruger's gang. Using his unsuspecting friend Lee Morgan (Joan Blondell), who runs a numbers racket, Johnny burrows into Kruger's organization while staying one step ahead of suspicious henchman Bugs Fenner (Humphrey Bogart).

Dr. Ehrlich's Magic Bullet The German scientist Dr. Paul Ehrlich makes remarkable advancements in the field of medical diagnostics with his research in cellular staining with dyes. His work results in new knowledge about tuberculosis, but also leads to his contraction of the disease. He travels to Egypt, where he investigates diphtheria and earns more accolades. Eventually his research in treating diseases leads to the development of a "magic bullet" treatment for syphilis.

Larceny, Inc. When ex-convict Pressure Maxwell (Edward G. Robinson) is denied the loan he was seeking in order to start his own business, he resolves to rob the bank instead. With the help of his pals Jug Martin (Broderick Crawford) and Weepy Davis (Edward Brophy), he engineers a car accident to raise enough money to buy the luggage store next to the bank. The group then begins burrowing through the basement into the bank, but their plans are disrupted by the unanticipated success of their business.
